Cloud Practitioner - Foundational

This exam validates a candidate's ability to:

The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner examination is intended for individuals who have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively demonstrate an overall understanding of the AWS Cloud, independent of specific technical roles addressed by other AWS Certifications

This exam validates a candidate's ability to:

  • Define what the AWS Cloud is and the basic global infrastructure

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate examination is intended for individuals who perform a solutions architect role. This exam validates an examinee's ability to effectively demonstrate knowledge of how to architect and deploy secure and robust applications on AWS technologies.

This exam validates a candidate's ability to:

  • Deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS
  • Implement and control the flow of data to and from AWS
  • Select the appropriate AWS service based on compute, data, or security requirements
  • Identify appropriate use of AWS operational best practices
  • Estimate AWS usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms
  • Migrate on-premises workloads to AWS

Developer - Associate

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

The AWS Certified Developer examination is intended for individuals who are in a development role and have one or more years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining an AWS based application.

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of at least one high-level programming language
  • Understanding of core AWS services, uses, and basic AWS architecture best practices
  • Proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS
  • Ability to use the AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications
  • Ability to identify key features of AWS services
  • Understanding of the AWS shared responsibility model
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management
  • Ability to use a CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications on AWS
  • Ability to use or interact with AWS services
  • Ability to apply a basic understanding of cloud-native applications to write code
  • Ability to write code using AWS security best practices (e.g., not using secret and access keys in the code, instead using IAM roles)
  • Ability to author, maintain, and debug code modules on AWS
  • Proficiency writing code for serverless applications
  • Understanding of the use of containers in the development process

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate examination is intended for individuals with one to two years of experience as a systems administrator in a systems operations role.

  • Minimum of 1 year hands-on experience with AWS
  • Experience managing/operating systems on AWS

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional exam validates advanced technical skills and experience in designing distributed applications and systems on the AWS platform.

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud architecture on AWS
  • Abilities to evaluate cloud application requirements and make architectural recommendations for implementation, deployment, and provisioning applications on AWS
  • Capabilities to provide best practices guidance on the architectural design across multiple applications, projects, or the enterprise

Big Data - Specialty

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

The AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty exam validates technical skills and experience in designing and implementing AWS services to derive value from data.

It is recommended that candidates have the following knowledge:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or a current Associate-level certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
  • Minimum five years hands-on experience in a data analytics field
  • Background in defining and architecting AWS Big Data services with the ability to explain how they fit in the data life cycle of collection, ingestion, storage, processing, and visualization
  • Experience in designing a scalable and cost-effective architecture to process data
