I am happy to announce I passed the R&S lab exam yesterday. This was my second attempt in total and my first attempt of V4 exam format. I previously attempted R&S version 3 exam in September 2009 and failed to make the grade. After the 1st attempt I learned that you cannot pass the CCIE exam with simply doing practice labs, and learning the answers to questions that are bound to pop up in the lab scenario. To pass, you need to understand the technologies, be confident in their behaviours and practice configuring them. This for me was achieved through INE Vol1 and Vol2 workbooks. I also used the CoD for technology introductions of the more obscure topics in security and systems management etc. If you do use the CoD dont forget to access the version 3 vids with Brian Dennis! They are a very good resource. Everyone says it, and not everyone does it, learn the Doc CD! My resource after reading Jeff Doyle TCP/IPVol1 & Vol2, CCIE V4 certification guide and QoS design guides was mainly INE Vol1 & Doc CD. Keep the resources you use to a minimum. If you can�t find the detail there then go back to the books. My study plan consisted of the following; - INE Vol1 x 2 times - INE Vol2 x 3 times (60 labs) Troubleshooting preparation was gained via the above and work experience working in a global enterprise network and service provider network. Big thanks to INE for their material and also my family Fiona & Abigail. My friends and colleagues Michael (Hoff), Dan, Tiny and my best mate Derek for putting up with me through this journey, they have heard me complain, curse, and say 'no' to beers too many times :) Anyone reading this is already on the path, good luck!
